Bolting on an axleback is an hr job max in the driveway. Bolting on a catback requires a lift, etc. Also, the systems for 2010 and 2011+ are different, Ford used different connection styles from 2010 to 2011 and later, so a 2010 has a very specific cat/axelback system vs 2011's and later.

I have a REMUS axle-back with the carbon tips and I'm very happy with it. The tone is slightly different, a little sharper. In normal mode with the flaps closed I don't hear the exhaust in the cabin, but when the flaps open it's only a little louder than stock which is what I wanted. "WHOA" is the first thing I said upon starting the car and going for a drive. I read up a little on the axle back and listened to what seemed like tons of audio clips on this setup. The note of of the exhaust coupled with the thirsty for air SRI sound was SIGNIFICANTLY louder than stock. Sep 28, 2002 · Cat free setup with stock muffler doesn't really sound much different than stock but going cat free v. using stock two cats on say an HKS cat back is a BIG difference. General rule? the louder the exhaust to begin with, the more of a difference in noise the cat free downpipe will create.

So how do you feel about the difference between MF Competition axleback and MF street catback. From what I gather from youtube reviews neither of these drones, and are adequate for a daily driver. Which one would be louder? I know generally the comp is louder than street but what about axleback vs catback? Do they sound significantly different?

May 08, 2013 · I didn't take a measurement of the Outlaws but it was a bone stock car except for Outlaw axle backs. It seemed like it droned louder than my Magnaflow Comps. They were also louder than my Comps, too. And that was even with the factory resonators, granted they don't do much. I have the Touring on my 2012 300S V8 and I love it. I now have the magnflow comp cat back. It is much louder and deeper than stock but not wake the dead loud. If you want really loud you can just go with a muffler delete like pypes bomb axle back. More answers: Cat-back is simply a strait pipe from the cat back. The difference is a dual exhaust can still have mufflers on the pipes. Cat-back means whatever exhaust that is dual starts at the cat.

It's definitely louder than stock, but still quieter than the S-Type cat back, and much quieter than the ATAK cat back. Both of those also sound a bit too raspy in all the videos I watched. There is also an ATAK axle back that probably sounds similar to the S-Type cat back.

The axleback produces almost no peak HP but fills in the valley that is typical of this new direct injected boxer 4. Muffler Options: No Mufflers: This is also known as a Muffler Delete. This is louder than the other two options for obvious reasons, but still sounds good. In-cabin noise is greater than that of the muffled options as well. The only MBRP sound clips I was able to find were of the cat back systems. I spoke with MBRP and they told me that the axle back is about 25 to 30% louder than stock and were able to get an additional 12whp with the axle back. Otherwise, if anyone could recommend a direct muffler (slightly louder) replacement for the GXP that would be great also. the axleback by itself seemed super mellow. Extra bass and volume without being over the top. I had pypebomb axlebacks on my 2012 5.0 and it was LOUD. A turbo motor with a stock cat should still be mellow even with a muffler delete. The mufflerless catback actually isn't much louder than the SPT, so the 4 inch would probably be the perfect compromise. The 5 inch mufflers sounded too quiet and restrained in my opinion. Also, keep in mind that the axleback won't bolt up to the SPT mid pipe, so you'll have to get the Nameless mid pipe unless you have a stock one lying around.
